Æva is a Norwegian duo that started up in winter 2014. Timbre is the main parameter in which the musicians experiment with both melodic patterns and different soundscapes. Æva plays everything from written pieces to fully improvised music.
The main goal is to bring the listener into an atmosphere of calm. The music is mostly pretty low tempered, but at the same time dynamic and vivid.
Æva started off as an all acoustic project, but they have recently gotten into experimenting with some simple live electronics that both musicians have experience with from other projects. Still they preserve the acoustic ground of their music.
Laponia Improvisations is a Helsinki based alternative music school that provides improvising and composing classes; the goal being in making own music. The permanent teachers are Ville Vokkolainen (contemporary composer/guitarist), Sergio Castrillon (contemporary cellist/composer from Columbia) and Pauli Lyytinen (saxophonist/composer). Under each term there are also internationally acclaimed visitors. Past visitors have included Raoul Björkenheim, Mika Pohjola, Arttu Kurttila, Seppo Kantonen, Taavi Kerikmäe and Riko Saatsi.
This time Laponia Improvisations' performers will share few improvised sets with acoustic instruments and electronic devices as their final concert of the course Improvising and composing with electronics held by Sergio Castrillón.
